New Year’s Goals

As I think about the year coming up, I have one thing on my mind. That is the New Year’s goals. Bringing all my goals to mind. All my desires for who I think I should be, and how I do not fit the bill yet. And how much work it will take to make me a better person.

What are your New Year’s goals? Do you have weight loss goals or some other type of goal? Leave a comment to tell me!

There are many things to think about when making your goals. But I think the most important thing is making sure it is attainable. I don’t know how many times I have set a goal that was just out of my reach, not because I can’t reach it, but because I needed to do a smaller goal first, so that I could actually achieve the goal, thereby making me not give up!

Not that I have given up because I haven’t. I’m just still learning how to make my goals possible and attainable.

So let’s take a look at some of my New Year’s goals coming up, and let’s see if we can’t break them down into even smaller goals, thereby making them attainable.

  • Work on my writing every day.

Now, already, this goal seems like it is a dream. I have 3 kids, 6-10. They always need something. School is out as well, so I’m so lucky to even be able to sit here and do this post today. I’m pushing through, though.

So how can I make it more doable? More attainable? Maybe I can say I will write at least one paragraph a day or do one writing prompt per day. I like that. I will make sure to write that as my new goal. Next.

  • Exercise everyday

Once again, this phrase every day is something I like to use. It really dampens my goals and makes me feel like I can’t accomplish the task. So how can I make this New Year’s goal more attainable?

How about I will exercise at least 10 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week. That gives me some leeway if I can’t do it perfectly. I had a streak of 3 days in a row last week. Maybe this week I can get all the way to 5.

  • Read a book a week

I think that is totally reasonable until I add in the factor that I have kids. But in reality, that is just an excuse. I’m on TikTok how often? hmmmm? So that goal seems totally reasonable to me.

I’m a stay-at-home mom, so I’m also looking for more ways to appreciate my spouse, who is always working for our household, kids, and everything. I would love to find a way to help him someday. Someday these kids will be grown. But I’d rather not wait until then to be helpful. I used to have a job too, but I quit that so that I could take care of the kiddos.

Those are a few of my New Year’s Goals. What’s yours?
