Introduction: Happiness might be closer than you think
The idea that we don’t need a complete lifestyle change to get a little happiness is the greatest idea. It is so easy to try and get healthy, only to be thrown back with all the things we need to do. But it actually is very simple. Getting in your steps can make you happier.
Whether you walk, run, or use the treadmill, getting in your steps can make you happier. Exercising gets all the feel-good hormones to come in and say Hi! A few steps each day could lead to a few more smiles every day too.

Walking and your mood
Walking can trigger the release of endorphins and body chemicals that create happy feelings. Regular walking can boost serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. All the chemicals that control pleasure, motivation, and emotional stability. Even a short walk can boost all these chemicals rapidly.
Getting outside can make a difference
Rain or shine, going outside can make a difference in your walk. The fresh air breathing through your lungs, the smell of the grass, or the rain, and trees. Going outside can make a huge difference in the amount of motivation you put in. Starting with 10 minutes a day is a great way to start.
Getting in your steps doesn’t mean you need to get in a huge workout
You don’t need to break a sweat every time; just get in some steps wherever you can. Parking farther away from the store is a good way to get in extra steps, or taking the stairs whenever available.
Walking can be considered “Me time”
I used to love putting on my headphones and taking a walk. You could listen to music, your fav podcast, or whatever your heart desires. Walking with a friend can also be fun so take a walk today.
Making it a Habit
The first thing is to set a realistic step goal for every day. I have a tracker on my phone and my watch. The watch also gives me reminders to get up and walk because otherwise I forget. Gotta make it a habit, so I stop forgetting. How about you?
Conclusion
Remember, it only takes a little to get started, and you can increase the time as you get used to the amount of time you spend. It doesn’t take much to get started, and it’s free. The next time you’re in a mood, take a walk and see if it doesn’t spread a little cheer back into your life. A great way to practice self-care.
