What are some healthy habits for women over 40? Let’s take a look at routine and aging well. I’m fairly certain I am not aging well. And I think I know why. I’m having a hard time being active. So that is one of my major goals to be more active. I have my treadmill but for some reason I dont use it like I should. Something to work on.

- Hydrate Right Away: Drink a glass of water first thing in the AM to kickstart your metabolism

What are some healthy habits for living in your 40s?
Above is a daily routine. I wish I could say it was my routine, but it’s just one I found online to give you an idea of what a daily routine looks like. But having a daily routine keeps us regular and helps us plan our days better. I work better on a routine. Otherwise I forget to take care of important things.
Make sure to get in whole grains, proteins, and veggies, as well as your healthy fats. Check what you eat, and if helpful, record what you eat to get a better idea of what you’re eating.
- Exercising Regularly
Regular exercise manages stress, keeps off extra weight, and builds muscle. It is good for your brain as well. Producing the feel-good chemicals we require to function optimally.
- Maintaining stress
Maintaining stress is one of the most important things for women, in my opinion. We seem to collect stress like some people collect stamps. Rigorously. So relieving stress is super important in order for us to be good at all the hats we wear.
How many days a week should a 40-year-old work out?
A 40-year-old should work out 3 to 5 days per week. To balance out the gains with proper recovery.
Cardio conditioning 1-2 days
Active recovery 1-2 days.
What happens to a woman’s body at 40?
One major change that starts around 40 is perimenopause. That is when women start losing important chemicals that we require to function. We start losing estrogen, and the other hormones begin fluctuating, causing lack of sleep, mood destabilization, and other symptoms like hot flashes, lack of energy, and it even affects the metabolism. I personally get cold flashes.
What are the five signs you’re aging well?
Aging well isn’t just about looking younger but overall health. It’s about maintaining good health, staying independent, and supporting your physical and mental well-being.
You have good energy levels.
If you can maintain your energy levels throughout the day, then you must be doing well. Having fairly consistent energy can show you are getting adequate rest, balanced nutrition, and overall health.
You stay physically active
If you are able to move, shake, run, and jump without pain, you are probably physically active. Which is hard to do if you are stuck in a chair all day. Physically active individuals have better health.
You get quality sleep
Getting to bed is easy, but falling asleep isn’t always easy. More physically active people get better rest due to the amount of energy they consume every day. Quality sleep supports memory, mood, immune function, and overall health.
You have good mental and emotional well-being
You can manage everyday stress, find enjoyment in life, and recover from difficult experiences. Emotional resilience, meaningful relationships, and activities that bring you joy are all signs you’re aging well.
Remember, aging well doesn’t mean never feeling tired. It just means you’re supporting your health with healthy habits. These are healthy habits for women over 40.
