Why is it so hard to be on time? Time management is the real question. How do we manage our time? What is it about time that has us humans so baffled? I don’t know about you but I have a huge issue with time. We struggle against one another. Yep, time is an issue.
This is why schedules are so important. Along with watches and timers. It is unfortunate how much time controls us. We rush from one place or event to the next. All the while thinking about the ever-growing list of things we have to do.
We need to schedule a vacation is what we need to do. To be able to unplug from everyone and everything for just a little while. To not have any huge worries and be able to be ourselves. I love how in some of the other countries they have a specific time in the day that is called rest times. And that it is countrywide is great.
We have to force ourselves to rest or we go go go all the time. So how do we stop the gogo motion that entraps us so often? Again… Calendars, watches, timers! There for a while, I had my calendar that I got out every morning along with my mood chart. It told me what I had to do for that day and week.
It was very helpful that in a sense I felt like I had some kind of control over the things that would whiz by me all throughout the day. That was my way of managing my time. Lately, I have been checking out other peoples calendars and ideas. It has given me ideas of what is pertinent for me to pay attention to.
Such as a goal list for both short-term and long-term goals. This can also be helpful for time management. A goal list gives us an idea of the direction we are going so that we know what to focus on at any given time. We can even take it a step further and plan out our months and years on our calendars.
If we know what to focus our attention on it takes some of the stress off of us. And what is time but one big ball of stress?
Some directives of time management
When you plan out your daily activities it relieves stress and worries about getting the next big thing done. If you find something you should have put on for that day then add it to an ongoing list. Then the next time you have a planning session add it in where appropriate.
Monthly planning is when you know you have appointments or deadlines to meet. Being able to look at the whole picture will help you plan out the days better. What about when you don’t get to do what you plan. That’s kinda where I’m at today. This is my writing session. I’m supposed to be practicing every day but my new day job of being with my babies has not been allowing me the time to focus or concentrate. So I am looking for ways to overcome this as I have missed them so much and it seems I am squandering time. AGAIN.
So prioritizing seems to be the big issue that I need to focus on. What is most important right now. As I sit here thinking about this it seems to me that the goal of weight loss is the most important right now. The last couple days I have been having some bodily problems. My right foot has been numbing out on me and my incision has been hurting me more than it should.
Why? Well, because of all the extra weight I’m carrying. I have been crying about the weight but unwilling to do anything about it, until now. That’s not completely true. It’s just that what I have been doing is inconsistent and may not be the right thing. Oh, the self-discovery it is taking to try and figure it all out. I don’t know if it’s the depression that has been stopping me or what. What I do know is that I went to church last Sunday. They were praying for healing for us that day. I have been feeling broken but didn’t know exactly what I was feeling.
I have a word for it today. Broken. Anyway. They prayed healing over us and that gave me the jumpstart I needed. This whole week has been great even though we have all been coming out of another sickness. School started and for some reason, that tells all the illnesses to come forth. I mean really. All the same, kids were around each other during summer. How does it change it? Well, I’m stumped on that one. Anyway, I’m looking to figure out a better plan. We will see how that goes.
