How About A Little Sugar
So What’s the deal with sugar? Now you might be asking “what deal” I’m talking about. Sugar taste good, looks good and is in everything. We love having doughnuts, candy, and soda. Not only that but we have a whole day every year devoted to how much candy (sugar) we can get AND how much we can stuff ourselves with. As well as two other days that are similar. Sugar and its components just happen to be present but it’s really about other foods too. Are you thinking about our yearly holidays? Holloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter? Yes, you got it. Our favorite holidays are filled with sugar.
What does sugar do to our bodies? Besides, give us a sugar high. There are sugars found in everything we eat. Some of it is natural and normal while others are added to the food for us. And what is sugar but a simple carbohydrate? But there are new studies found (old studies unpublished) that says the overuse of sugar plays a part in heart disease and just about every disease that they claim is the fault of too much fat. In a healthy diet, glucose tells the brain to produce insulin which helps in regulating your blood sugar.
Regulates Blood Sugar?
Some foods raise our blood sugar more than others. Like potatoes and juice. Ask anyone who is diabetic and they will tell you they have to stay away from certain foods (if they are trying to control and maintain a healthy diet!) Foods that have no sugar in them but, create an enormous amount of sugar in our bodies. So sugar is a normal part of our lives as our bodies create glucose which is sugar. But the added sugar and unhealthy eating like soda, cookies candies… Shall I go on?
It affects our concentration and lowers the water in our body. Water helps to rid us of toxins and dilutes the sugar which is one reason we need to be consuming more water. Sugar consumption causes cavities, weight gain, and memory problems. It sours our behavior as well as the ability to pay attention. Have you read of the red dye number 5 that is causing ADHD and hyperactivity in children. Same kind of situation except that sugar is the culprit. Not Fat. Go ahead sit down and eat a gingerbread house and see how you feel.
As I learn more about this I realize how bad my diet has been my entire life. Trying to correct it at 38 years of age is super difficult. You know already being in the habit and all. I did exactly what I suggested above yesterday. It’s been a week since I got to the gym. Again and I’m not comprehending why I am not using the tools in front of me. Sure I’m using the tools in front of me for my business but the whole point is to be fully rounded and I don’t mean round as in bodily. I am trying to teach my kids before they get to my age and have the same problem. And I’m sorry, “do as I say and not as I do”, Does not work. I had someone say that to me growing up and it just doesn’t work.
I have all kinds of ideas for others but it seems when it comes to me applying it to my own circumstances that it doesn’t work. So, I am looking for ways to make it better. When we were hitting the gym first thing in the morning, it was better. The days went well for me. I got in the exercising and was more productive in other stuff too. However, my writing was suffering due to time and so was my boy. Because there were more kids in the childcare first thing in the morning, he was getting overstimulated and acting out. Plus it was too cold outside.
It Was Way To Cold Outside
Obviously, I’m still looking to see what works. I think I need to start setting a timer or something. The time we leave now (when we leave), is perfect. My boy has a chance to wear off some energy but not be too tired and fall asleep in the car on the way home. Also, I can work for a little in the morning which is my best thinking time. I think I know what I need. An accountability partner. Sometimes we all need one. That is my new goal for today. Find an accountability partner in fitness and health. I tried recording everything but for some reason, that didn’t work either. I got distracted and then would forget and get behind. It’s cause I’m doing way too much right now. Focus, focus, focus! Which leads me to an accountability partner. After this, I will head over to my favorite site SparkPeople and look for one.
One thing is for sure. I need to be consuming less sugar.Yesterday, I made the gingerbread house. The gingerbread house broke. I started eating the gingerbread house and then, within an hour started feeling the emotional effects of the sugar my body was rejecting. I was just about in tears because it felt so awful. This is the behavior I should be recording. So that when I want to eat something I know I shouldn’t, all I have to do is read past results. I need more success. So instead of saying ” We will see how it goes” I am going to say ” I am going to be successful”. Guess I need to throw out the gingerbread house to do that!
