Procrastination: Where does it end?

Procrastination…my nemesis. I will do it later. Or maybe tomorrow. Or will I? My new nemesis is that procrastination has taken over my life with its “I’ll do it tomorrow” and “I’ll do it later.” AHHHH I have only so much time every day.

But it is still the same amount of time every other person has. 24 hours. Sooo. I need to work it out somehow. We are supposed to be exercising every day or at least 5 days a week.

That has not happened this week. Just to be up front and honest. This is my accountability right now. And that’s not to say I don’t get anything done. I actually get a lot done. With 3 kids, that seems to be the norm. Getting a lot done.

But this post is about procrastination. Let’s get into it.

Procrastination means: to volutarily delay or postpone tasks, even knowing it will have negative consequences. For me, that means not cleaning something until it is definitely noticeable that I HAD to clean it. Gross huh! Or not dealing with an emotion and having it come out when I least expect it.

Procrastination can run over into all areas of life. For example, my cleaning issue, but on the other end of that is the emotional issue.

So how do we fight procrastination, especially when it is in so many issues?

My therapist suggested an app called Finch. And it’s this little bird-like animal that encourages you every day to get important matters done. I just started, and it started me out small, like drinking water and washing my face, not super important, but good pieces of self-care.

I added a goal to it and am still learning how to use it, but it might be a good way to stop procrastinating quite so much.

I was gonna upload today’s cleaning, but it wouldn’t let me. Something else, I still need to learn.

So instead, I will upload my daily cleaning to Facebook and leave the link here.
