How To Save Money
How do we save money? It seems that these days our money leaves us before we even get it. We are employed and already know that when payday comes, we are broke. So, how do we save money in this kind of situation. Some people put away their change for a rainy day and some have another approach.
What if you put ten percent of every check into a savings account that you don’t dip into. This is easy if you are spending extra money on coffee or breakfast as those things can be sacrificed. Coffee can be made at home as well as breakfast. Maybe you think to yourself that you don’t have time. One way to overcome this is to buy a coffee pot with a timer and preset it for the next day. Also you could make your breakfast the night before and microwave it in the AM.
In the AM
Still not enough time? Maybe this idea won’t work for you. Each of us has to decide what we are willing to do to save money. What are we willing to give up or sacrifice? Are you a smoker maybe your thing would be to calculate how much you spend on cigs each week or month and then try to lower that amount. Whatever you would have put on the smokes you could put into savings or a piggy bank of some sort.
How about food? Food has gotten so expensive. Do you like the treats? You could choose not to buy the treats and save that money. It would save your waistband too. How about planting a garden. There are usually people willing to rent out a piece of land for this. Some places even offer it as a way to get others to make their own produce for free. This would save on the amount of produce you get.
Fresh Produce and Free too
Are you close to work? What if you rode you bike to work a couple of days a week. The money you put into the gas tank coud be put away instead. Maybe your thing is taking a bunch a trips in a year. Just take a few less. The main thing is to decide where extra money is coming out and see if it is something you need.
Maybe none of this has to do with you at all. I get it. My child support for my first child is so high that I struggle to do any of these ideas. I don’t have enough to even cover the bills let alone anything extra. However, I look to see what I could cut. Unfortunately I don’t look too often because it’s a little depressing. Which is why when we marry we really should keep our vows and learn to work it out. But that’s a whole nother topic. I won’t go there!
No Way, some other day!
What other ways could we save? How about couponing. I use Ibotta on my phone to get rebates on everyday items I buy. Then there is also the newspaper. Soon I will have plenty of time to try to find extra savings there as well. Also, I tried a new one a friend turned me onto. Crazy coupon lady.com. I’m still new to these but will let you know how they work out.
The point I’m trying to make is that there is always a way to save a little. I am forty thousand in debt due to my old life and fifteen hundred due to not having enough on a regular basis. I’m looking for ways to make and to save though. Each of us has to decide what we are willing to do to take a step towards that freedom. No matter how dark the hallway you’re in is, there is a light somewhere. You just have to find it. I’m right behind you.
