Who thinks of self-care after Christmas? The day after Christmas or a few days, but who is really counting? I am. I am counting down the days until these little rascals go back to school. I have enjoyed their company, and now I am ready for some peace!
We opened presents, and everyone had a blast. But it’s time for the party to end. Not, however, according to the school system, who seem to think they need an extra week. Not really. I’m playing. I’m just overstimulated, that’s all. How many moms are with me, who are tired and overstimulated after Christmas? Doesn’t mean I don’t love them like crazy.
Yesterday, we focused on goals. Today, we are focusing on self-care. Self-care in the form of coloring for a moment. I pulled out my daughter’s coloring book and had a blast. I like some of these new coloring books. I had to take a minute and take care of myself. It was a moment I didn’t even realize I needed until it was in front of me. (Yes, I had her permission to use said coloring book)
When the paper was sitting there in front of me, and as I began to color and to make the strokes on the page, I felt like I was so focused. And it felt good. Like meditation, but with your eyes open. Very relaxing.
Self-Care is one of my toughest subjects. It seems to be something I fail at consistently. About the only thing I seem to be consistent at these days. But hey, we all start somewhere. Right? Let’s take a look at some self-care activities.

This is not all the items, I’m sure. Just a small list to get started with. Self-Care can be anything that gives you peace, comfort, or joy. These were my moments of musings on self-care.
